EAV – Experience Acquisition Validation

Experience Acquisition Validation (VAE) to obtain a recognised diploma Any person having worked for at least 3 years in a paid, nonpaid or voluntary occupation, can request the Experience Acquisition Validation to obtain a diploma or title for professional purposes. It is thus possible to obtain a national diploma by experience acquisition validation and there is no distinction between this diploma and the one obtained by following initial or in-service training.

The law of social modernisation n° 2002-73 of 17 January 2002 governs this procedure.

The decree of application n° 2002-590 of 24 April 2002 fixes the rules for obtaining a higher education diploma by Experience Acquisition Validation.

It is however absolutely essential to provide proof that the skills and aptitudes acquired are « in direct relation with the content of the diploma ».

Indeed, it is the match between the acquired experience and the content of the diploma which determines the admissibility of the application.

The purpose of presenting the activities and skills of the ENSCI engineer in the reference system is to help you in this choice.

Reference system of activities and skills – ENSCI engineers

Which diploma is accessible via the VAE?

- ENSCI Engineering Diploma

Phase I : Reception and orientation

- reception, information and orientation of the candidate by SUFOP University In-service Training Department) of the University of Limoges

- analysis of the candidate’s project and submission of the pre- application file

- opinion on the feasibility of the application with a reorientation proposal or a continuation of the application for VAE.

Phase II : Investigating the request for validation

- Registration for the VAE and the desired diploma

- constitution of the application file with optional guidance Examination of the file and deliberation by VAE judging panel. Composed of a majority of teacher-researchers and professionals in activity, specialists in the candidate’s field, the panel examines the candidate’s file and evaluates his experience during an interview. This experience is described in the form of skills, aptitudes and associated knowledge, acquired in a paid, non paid or voluntary activity. These acquisitions are evaluated against the diploma reference system (+ link towards the reference system) The purpose of the interview with the panel is to provide complementary elements or precise details concerning the professional career and activities of the candidate. After deliberation, the validation panel determines the knowledge and aptitudes which it considers are acquired. They report to the School Director, proposing the partial or total issue of the diploma.

Phase III : Validation

- if the validation is total, the candidate is recommended for the diploma;

- if the validation is partial, the panel will stipulate the knowledge and therefore the training to be acquired to fill the “gaps” for obtaining the diploma, with a teaching tutorial system. In this case, the candidate will follow the corresponding teaching modules, the methods of evaluation being identical to those provided for the initial training. In parallel, the candidate can be offered a complement of experience. The benefit of the partial validation will only be valid for 5 years. At the end of this further training, there is a meeting of the VAE panel which will decide either total validation, or justified invalidation with end of the VAE process.
